Sunday night Q's

A few questions for tonight:

How old were you when you started cross stitching?

Who taught you?

How long did it take you to learn?

What was your first project?

Memories of your first stitchings...?

December 30th mid afternoon

A little changes can be seen.  A bit more pinks are helping to develop the beautiful dogwood blooms.
Has anyone ever done a blended thread? In the middle of the blooms, it may be hard to see, but the pattern called for 2 yellow strands and 1 green strand for some if the crosses.  For one I have never used 3 strands in a pattern and two...it looked pretty neat!
My goal is to finish the two blooms by tomorrow night...sorry pic is sideways.  But beautiful none the less!  Hope to update again tonight! :)  Please pray for my 12yo today...she is having an MRI on her lower back area and has never experienced this type of testing before and a lot is riding on the outcome of the MRI.  Her treatment will be dependent on what it shows.  Thanks in advance!

December 18 afternoon...

While I work on laundry and start making mental notes on what needs to be cleaned before Christmas I thought I would stitch a little more!  How does the instagram look?  Never used this before but I always see it on twitter!

On a side note...I have been browsing fudge recipes.  I found this ONE that I think I am going to make.  Our music minister at church posted a picture of a cherry pie with fudge on top and that is what I am trying to make.  I figure I can just get the pie crust, cherry filling, bake, and then pour the fudge mixture on top and let it cool.  Yum! And holy carbs batman!

Remember tomorrow is our giveaway announcement.  Know other stitchers that could use some fresh stitching basics to give as a gift or to boost their new year, new stitching?  Refer them over!  Just click on the post title to get the direct link!

Here is one of my other WIPs that I will be working and finishing in 2013.  A small story behind this project...well, actually there are two.  One is that their is a tea stain in the upper left corner of this project.  I have scrubbed and scrubbed this to remove and have decided to leave the stain.  The stain was not made by me but instead by my mother-in-law.  She has since passed from Alzheimer's and I think leaving the stain would be a great reminder on how I worked on this project with her sitting nearby!  The second story is that the pattern calls for the stitcher to stitch the days of the week on top of each of the bloomers.  Instead I am going to stitch the names of each of us in our family on top of each bloomer.  I thought it would add a bit more of personalization.  What do you think?
Here is what the chart looks like and here is my un-ironed progress!

December 17 evening

Long day with doctor appointments and mri's.  I was happy to come home to my stitching.  I missed it all day but knew I wouldn't have time to work on it if I brought it with me.  So here is tonight's update:

One leads to another

I am doing the blog hopping thing tonight.  I stitched some tomorrow and will send an update tomorrow night when we get home.  We have a morning of appointments for our oldest daughter.  Plus, its getting late and I will probably be in bed sooner than later!  But I am craving a spaghetti squash right now!  Yum!

Keep up the stitching everyone!  I am thinking of doing the TUSAL I see everyone has been collecting!  I have a bunch ready already!! :)  Also looking at the 2013Wipocalypse? I think I spelled that right!  Lots to explore.  One site leads to another that leads to another and the next thing you know....its MIDNIGHT! :)

Our youngest son was out on a nice ride tonight with dad!

15 for 2013...

I joined a group on facebook, CrossStitchCrazy2013, that in 2013 we will work on our list of 15 projects to complete in the year.  I am stoked about this opportunity and can't wait to start!  So glad I have several qsnaps!!

Here are my 15:

# 1 The Legend of the Dogwood Tree - This one may take the entire year! (just started this one)

#2 Country Bloomers (This is a WIP)

#3 Months of the Year Sampler (WIP)
Charts can be found in this book:
365 Tiny Cross Stitch Designs

#4 & #5 are both Tribal Charts by White Willow Stitching
I received these as part of a Stashmas gift on another group!  I think they will be quick stitchings!  Part of the gift was also special linen fabrics to coordinate!

#6 To Everything There is a Season

#7 - #19 (Yes I know I am going over 15...but I can't just do 15)
The rest of the charts can be seen here.  I have been eyeing these cottages all year!  Take a look at them here at Country Cottage Needlework

Tonight!!...A new "GIVEAWAY" will be announced!!

Stay tuned to this evening to find out the new giveaway!!  This giveaway would be great for the new stitcher or the seasoned stitcher who would like to keep things fresh!  Great for stocking stuffers...even if it is your own!

To be added to the giveaway you have to be a blog follower.  If you already are a follower then please leave a comment that you would like to be added to this giveaway!  Its as easy as pie!

Had a great appointment today.  Took my stitching with me but spent the majority of the time traveling in the van and having one on one conversation with my husband.  This doesnt happen often when you have 4 kids. :)  Only stitched for a few minutes tonight.  Some taupe and yellow colors added.

12:55am December 3rd

I really need the rest if my colors...its seriously holding me back.  I have to get these dogwood blooms filled in ir it will drive me nuts-o!  My update before finding my cold, soft pillow...

9:41pm December 2nd

Because I have a neurology appointment tomorrow I am having a lot of anxiety tonight.  The stitching is helping my nerves.  Before my bubble bath I thought I would post my first update on the new project..."The Legend of the Dogwood Tree".

*FREE GIVEAWAY*

I received my order this week for some supplies I needed and accidentally order two of the same chart.  On Friday the 7th I will draw a number from the new followers to receive this chart.

From today forward...

I am not going to go too far backwards and show everything I have stitched.  Except for 1.  But this is the last project I completed for a friend.  I am a slow stitcher anyhow but you know the say "slow and steady wins the race".  I won the race....three years later.

I have several WIPs going on but its hard not to start a new project.  Most projects I work on are for other people.  I have 3 Christmas gifts I am working on right now but today I am starting a project for our home.
I have ordered twice now from this site and so far I have been pleased.  This is a picture from their WEBSITE:

I am stitching this on a darker fabric in the hopes that the blooms will really pop.  May change the colors of in the writings to something lighter.  I may change my mind, I don't know.  Not one of my projects follows a pattern strictly...its just not how I craft.  I sew the same way except I don't normally use a pattern at all.
